Here We Go Again!

Not really angry, just about to grab a few!

                                              OOPS!

Hmmm; decisions, decisions, decisions!
Well, it's been almost a month since my last posting.  A lot , and yet not much, has happened since then.

As predicted by my husband, the bluebird babies did follow Mom and Dad home to be fed.  At first, you could just hear the babies around our house in different trees.  Mom and Dad gathered our tasty mealworms to feed the nagging babies.  Then, after about a week, the babies came to our magnolia to be pampered by their parents.  The parents are great providers, and faithfully feed the babies as they beg for food.  Hardly eating any themselves, they feed the frantic babies as if they had just hatched.  If they don't get fed in the trees, they are on our deck, on the lights of our pergota; anywhere they can get their parents' attention.  The cool thing is that now I can see Dad on the telephone line on the street side of our house.  I can call him, and before I can get the kitchen door open, he is their, waiting for rations!

Meanwhile, Mom and Dad had turf wars again with the sparrows. I actually witnessed the Dad bluebird pinning a sparrow to the ground... it was a pretty scary scene- talk about violence in your own back yard!  The bluebirds won, and put together their nest in a box with a live webcam.  We were so excited, but it turns out, it is just there to throw off the sparrows.  They are nesting in another box nearby.

Anyway, while Mom and Dad are patiently feeding their brood, they have already laid 4 more eggs!  They are one busy couple!  And the sparrows, whose babies were jumping out of their box two weeks ago, (I had to rescue one with a crab net from the bayou), have a full nest again this week.

FEED ME!

              FEED ME!

And so, life goes on.  It may seem a little boring sometimes, so I got myself a birthday present to spice things up a bit!

MEET CRICKET!

Cricket and Kent

You know what they say...a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at the office!
